A little farm-grown, a little found, and a whole lot of heart.
A little farm-grown, a little found, and a whole lot of heart.
Rooted long before it had a name.
Found & Flowered may be new, but the love behind it started a long time ago — somewhere between a rural Virginia farm, a childhood spent outdoors, a mother who knew how to make things grow, and a lifelong habit of seeing beauty in the things other people might pass by.
🌿🌿🌿
I grew up the oldest of three sisters on a 100+ acre farm in rural Culpeper, Virginia — a place with its own story. It began as an Aberdeen Angus farm, later became a chicken farm (just ask "Plucker" aka the egg guy), and eventually turned into the kind of childhood dream you almost can’t believe was real: open fields, dogs, donkeys, horses, gardens, plants, projects, ponds, rivers, and well plenty of room to roam.
My parents were entrepreneurs their entire lives and created a strong presence in our small town through their landscape and garden center, Aberdeen Green. My mom was a horticulturist and well-known landscape artist, and together, she and my dad built something beautiful, rooted, and deeply connected to the community.
They worked side by side every day until their retirement shortly before Covid, and they are now about to celebrate 50 years of marriage. How does that even happen? Truly — how lucky am I?
Much of my childhood was spent around plants and the quiet, steady work it takes to nurture something well. I learned early that beautiful things take patience, care, creativity, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
I also grew up on the back of a horse, starting around age two, and rode all the way through college, where I became one of the founders of the JMU Equestrian Team. That part of me — the farm girl, the horse girl, the outdoorsy one who loves a little dirt under her nails — has always been there.
Professionally, my path took me into the creative world. I’ve spent more than 25 years in graphic design, production, account management, and creative operations — helping bring ideas to life, guiding projects from concept to completion, and living in that space between creativity, details, deadlines, and making things feel beautifully pulled together.
But a couple of years ago, life gave me a very clear pause. After years of pushing too hard and not taking good enough care of myself, I ended up in the hospital battling sepsis and pneumonia in both lungs. It was terrifying, humbling, and clarifying. Somewhere in that hospital room, I made a promise to myself that I would start choosing differently — with more intention, more care for my health, more gentleness, and more alignment with the life I wanted to be living, not just for myself, but for the people who love me.
And slowly, the pieces started finding their way back to me.
The flowers. The outdoors. The old things with stories. The creative work.
The joy of making something by hand.
The inherited love of antiques, vintage finds, and unique little treasures from my mother’s side of the family.
My husband may lovingly call some of it “junk,” but even he could see how much joy it brought me. Eventually, he encouraged me to combine the things I love — flowers, found vessels, outdoor living, and maybe, just maybe, a way to make a small dent in our basement collection.
And that is where Found & Flowered took root.
A KC + Co. concept, Found & Flowered brings together my creative background, my love of plants and outdoor living, and my lifelong soft spot for things with character. Each piece is part design project, part garden moment, and part second-chance story.
These days, I live in the Severn/Annapolis area with my husband, Jay, our daughter, who is heading into her sophomore year of college, our 13-year-old son, and our two tiny dogs, Cody and Iver — all 20 pounds combined of pure love and joy.
Found & Flowered is a little piece of all of it: where I came from, what I’ve loved, what I’ve survived, and what I’m choosing to grow next.
